BYRA was delighted to provide the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) with a venue for their ILCA [laser] female training camp. This took place from the 28th of August to the 1st of September, inclusive.
"The NSWIS ILCA squad had a fantastic 5-day camp at BYRA last month to kick start their preparation for the domestic regatta season this summer. BYRA offered some diverse and challenging conditions to the athletes, which enabled them to better understand their skillset and learn faster. We were also fortunate to have invited training partners travel from interstate to be part of the camp. Australian Sailing and the NSWIS program would like to thank BYRA for welcoming us and providing a great training environment." Haylee Outteridge, Australian Sailing State Performance Pathway Manager NSW.
"We had a brilliant week at BYRA. The club was extremely welcoming and we learnt lots from the conditions that Pittwater had to offer. The club members that showed us around were extremely helpful and gave me everything I needed to provide a good learning environment. We would love to come back if you would have us at some point in the future". Coach Jake Farren-Price
And we would love to you have you all back!
With both a female Commodore - Leah Singer - and a female Rear Commodore - Mindy Meehan -, gender equality in sailing is something close to BYRA's heart. We wish all of the participants from the training camp all the best for their future sailing endeavours. We also thank Haylee Outteridge and team for considering BYRA for the camp.
