Scow and Lowrider Moth NSW State Titles

(Including the BYRA Scow Moth and Lowrider Invitational Regatta)

BYRA welcomes the Scow and lowrider Moths to Pittwater to compete in the NSW State Titles held in conjunction with the third running of the BYRA Scow Moth and Lowrider Invitational Regatta. We are thrilled to have you at our club and on beautiful Pittwater!

Here is some helpful information to make your event run smoothly.

Eligibility

The regatta is open to non-foiling moths of the International Moth Class that comply with the Moth Class Rules and are registered with through the International Moth Class of Australia register.

  • Copies of your Measurement Certificate and Insurance Policy must be provided when requested.
  • All Scow and Lowrider Moths boats and sailors are to be registered as sailing with an Australia Sailing affiliated sailing club.
  • All sailors must be members of the International Moth Class Association of Australia.  All sailors must be members of the International Moth Class Association of Australia. Interstate entries are welcomed and eligible to compete but only NSW resident members will be eligible for the State Championship prizes. All entrants will be eligible for prizes in the 'BYRA Scow Moth and Lowrider Invitational Regatta' and the “Le
    Mans” race to the start line.

Accommodation

There are a variety of accommodation options in the area.

  • At the club. Accomodation is available from Friday 28th February to Monday 3rd March. Cost is $50/day. Please email accounts@byra.com.au. You can pay at the canteen.
  • AirBnB. There are many AirBnB's in the area. Ian Urban has a 5 star rated Studio, 15 minutes drive away, available at a reduced rate of $80/night. It has been blocked out for the weekend so it won't show up as being available. Just message him via AirBnB to book it. Link to property: Studio32 at North Narrabeen.
  • One of our members, Paul Chudleigh, lives nearby and has rooms in his house available. Contact him on: 0417 277 984.
  • Camping next to the club on Riddle Reserve.
  • Lakeside Caravan Park is 15 minutes away.
  • Mirage Hotel at Newport is 10 minutes away.
  • We also have a club mooring just out from the club! For a rate of $50/ day.
Rigging Area

Riddle reserve is right next to the club for rigging.

Schedule

This will be a six race series with three races held each day. The Saturday races count for the State Titles and the BYRA Invitational Regatta.

There is a special event race on Sunday which consists of a beach start at the club to a finish at the start boat. This does not count towards the state titles.

Racing Saturday
  • Saturday morning registration opens at 0900
  • Briefing at 1100
  • First race starts at 1300
Racing Sunday
  • Sunday Special event 1000
  • "Le Mans" style race to start 1100
  • First Race starts at 1200
  • No start after 1500
Social Events
Friday
  • Pizza on the deck from 1800.
Saturday
  • Dinner at the club on Saturday night. Beer and wine will be available from 1600.
  • Prize giving for BYRA Scow Moth and Lowrider Invitational Regatta from 1900. 
Sunday
  • Prize giving for NSW State Titles from 1700
Canteen

The canteen will be open to serve food and drink over the weekend. B & E rolls will be available in the morning as well as coffee of your choice (cappuccino, etc). Tea as well!
